The Seven Commitments

What We're Asking Every BC Politician to Commit To

We can only secure our future if we know exactly where our representatives stand on the issue of property rights. Every candidate for public office in BC is asked to commit to the following:

01

Repeal DRIPA Immediately

Repeal DRIPA immediately, and undo the Interpretation Act amendments that give teeth to DRIPA legislation.

02

Property Rights Clarification Act

There cannot be co-existence of aboriginal and fee simple title anywhere in BC. Pass a "Property Rights Clarification Act" that enshrines in legislation that all parcels held as fee simple, extinguish aboriginal title on that parcel. The legal and constitutional principle guiding this will be the appropriate assertion of parliamentary supremacy against activist judicial rulings.

03

End Official Land Acknowledgements

Using political language loosely and inaccurately isn’t a joke. It has had grave consequences on our society broadly, from legal recognition to public morale. Our sovereignty and unity as a free and fair democracy is not up for negotiation. Public institutions need to reflect this. End the practice of land acknowledgements by publicly funded institutions.

04

No Co-Management of Public Lands

Promise that there will be no regulatory authority or co-management of public lands. No native tribe can have independent authority to regulate or veto improvements and operations on Crown land, nor on government-regulated assets tied to privately held property.

05

Race-Neutral Access to Public Land

Canada belongs to Canadians. All Canadians. Full stop. Accessing public lands is a universal component of Canadian life. There can be no special distinctions based on race and lineage. Equal access to Crown land and public parks.

06

No Secret Treaty Negotiations

When billions of dollars of your money are at stake, you deserve to know. We demand a STOP to secret treaty negotiations, and an introduction of a hard deadline on how long treaty negotiations can take place.

07

Fast, Fair and Final Treaties

Ensure all treaties are conducted on a fast, fair and final basis.
